What is the aim of E-Science?

e-Science is all about furthering technology in order to advance the scientific discipline. If scientific research is to go above and beyond, and reach heights that we would not have thought possible before, then e-Science will be the infrastructure to pave the way. There is a large group of professionals and researchers who are currently working to make sure scientists are able to reach their goals, no matter how unbelievable they may seem at the time. Though the groups that make up the UK e-Science foundation may hold somewhat differing goals, they have one overarching target: to bring e-Science to the forefront of scientific and technological research.

What is the aim of e-Science?

One of the main aims of the e-Science community is to ensure the advancement of computer technology continues. This may sound like an easy thing to do, but it takes mounds of research, testing and learning from mistakes to bring about any advancement in technology areas ranging from laser hair removal to other more important areas in medicine conncerning treatments for things like cancer. The scientific community faces challenges and questions that need to be answered, but without the necessary technology they are unable to do so.

It is therefore the mission of e-Science to make these goals a possibility. Scientists and engineers need the assistance and technological input of e-Science if our knowledge and understanding of the world around us, and the mounds of space beyond, it to improve.

Core objectives

e-Science is a complex technological discipline, through which the possibilities are endless. Yet, the job of meeting these possibilities will take time to achieve. This is why groups around the UK, and around the world, are continuing to conduct research and strive for technological advancement. There are certain core goals and aims that members of e-Science hold. They include a strong emphasis on increasing the capacity of data that can be stored, managed and analysed.

This will allow for greater levels of testing and for theories and hypotheses to be thoroughly tested. Other goals include the improvement of the ability to communicate data and findings across not only the UK, but the globe. This will lead to greater levels of collaboration, and allow a greater level of insight into scientific research. Overall, there is the general aim to ensure that the insights of science are made possible through the help of e-Science.

Future generations

There is also a push in e-Science to train the e-scientists of tomorrow. This is to ensure the continuing impact of e-Science upon the scientific world, and also ensuring that science has the tools at hand to develop its theories. Trainees and students will be provided with a thorough education into advanced computing, and will also be given insight into the demands of the scientific industry.

This will therefore give them ideas as to what advancement is needed and what is not. There will also be the aim to further the e-Science community that resides in the UK, create a direct link between e-Science and the industry for which it caters, and also to ensure cooperation is the future endeavour of e-Science professionals. Individuality will only lead to discrepancy in the development of scientific knowledge, something e-Science should be aiming to separate from.
